HURRICANE CHARLEY
Our trip to Florida started out a bit troubled as a result of Hurricane Charley. However, our troubles are absolutely nothing compared to those of people living in the path of this most devastating of storms. Hearing the reports on the radio, and even watching scenes on TV doesn't give one any idea of the devastation that actually occurred. Driving through Orlando gave me the sense of futility. And the damage we saw is apparently minor as compared to that of areas harder hit such as Ft. Meyers. Thousands of dreams have come abruptly to an end today as businesses that once flourished and especially those that just "got by" have come to an end. One can only imagine the sense of hopelessness that victims of this ravaging scourge of nature has placed upon them. Although at this point of time in the life of the tragedy, the streets are almost totally void of human life, one can see from these images the relentlessness of mother nature and the horrible sense of loss being experienced by those who are stuck at home, or worse yet, stuck looking over what used to be their home. Please look at these images and open your hearts to these victims to offer whatever sort of support you can; whether in prayer, time or money.
