NYC with Mike Waters
December 17, 2005
The light wasn't so great today, BUT, I got some really nice images. First stop: The Brooklyn Heights Promenade. Some picture taking followed by an really terriffic breakfast on Montague Street. After getting lucky and not getting a ticket for parking illegally, we headed for Lower Manhattan. This time we parked legally. Walked around Orchard St., Allen St., Delancy St., etc. Visited Mike's Father-in-Law who owns Sol Moscott (Optical Eyewear business). Joel gave me a very cool wiping cloth. :-) A walk around China Town rewarded us with some excellent color and best of all, an unexpected visit to something new to me, an Asian Bird Garden. Spoke with one of the men there who told me some info about the tradition of song birds being kept and trained as pets. Folks bring their birds (my new friend has 11 of them) here every day of the week, in temperatures as low as ONE DEGREE FARENHEIT. Amazing. The day ended with a trip to Adorama where Mike hoped to get a new ball head for his tripod but didn't because they didn't have the one he wanted in stock. A last-minute stop at the City Bakery got us a nice, thick hot-chocolate topped with a homemade giant marshmallow. Now, I'm home, Photoshopping, and TIRED.
